Costumes

Equipment

When filming the video I will be using my own camera which is the Canon 700d. I chose to use my own camera because it will be easier when filming as I will not have to book a camera and also the images and footage I take will not need to be wiped meaning I will have more time.
However the tripod I will be using will be borrowed from college as i do not own one. Hopefully this won't be a problem as I will not need it for any longer than one day.
My music video includes a few tracks and 360 degrees pans around the band performing so it may be handy for me to use a dolly as it will make it easy to do these camera movements and will result in it looking more professional rather than it being hand held or just on the tripod which would make it look shaky.

Green Screen Testing

To see whether I wanted to use a green screen in my music video I thought it would be a good idea to test it out and see if it would fit with the genre of the song and video.
A girl in my class kindly let me take some test shots of her to practice on.
Although the green screen can look very effective when used properly, after testing it out I don't think it would look effective with the narrative and performance that  have planned for my music video.

Organisation Text Messages

These are some messages sent to one of the people who will appear in my music video, organizing how him and the rest of his band will get to the location where we will be filming the video. The main problem that there was, was the drummer of the band may not be able to transport his drum kit from his house to the location, however through discussion I think that problem is sorted.
They also go to my college so most of the organising has been done through face to face communication. However I did message them on Facebook to make sure everything will hopefully go to plan.
A group chat was also made so I didn't have to message each band member separately and it meant we could all discuss when the best day would be.
Another problem was finding a time to film but we have all agreed on Thursday afternoon.
These text messages were to show the organisation of making sure they all have a way of getting to the location and making sure they know where it is. I have told Bryn the address of the building  which is shown in the second screenshot. However I have censored the location because I don't know whether or not the owner of the location would want me putting it on my blog. So to be safe I thought it would be best to cover it up.

Weather Forecast

The filming for my music video will take place on Thursday. Although I will not be filming outside I thought it would be a good idea to see what the weather forecast will be for other reasons. Such as how the lighting will be. If it is dull outside it means it might be quite dull in the warehouse, this could result in it being too dark to film, to stop this problem I would need to bring extra lighting.
I also checked to see if it will be raining on the day so I can take precautions so the instruments and equipment will not get wet and broken when transporting them from the car to the building. As there is a chance it will rain that could be a problem however I could put the camera equipment in something waterproof to stop them getting damaged whilst carrying them in the rain.

Blundell Street Board School

This building was the perfect location for my music video. It had the run down, abandoned look which I wanted for my music video. I felt it fit really well with the genre of music my video is and it seemed like it would be different from other existing music videos.
With it being built in 1878 it had a very old fashioned style to it which I thought looked amazing and would look great in my music video.

However there are were problems that followed with trying to use this location. There has previously been fires here meaning the floors, walls and doors are crumbling and could fall, which makes it very dangerous to film in because there are risks of certain parts of the building collapsing, this means it goes against many health and safety precautions.
I wouldn't only be in charge of my health and wellbeing but also the people who I am using for my music video.
When reading about this building there were also articles which were quite worrying, such as:

This article suggested that because the state the building is in if you go without asking permission there is a chance something could happen, possibly resulting in death. So using the building could be quite a high risk and not worth getting hurt for.

Another problem was that the building could possibly going through refurbishment's  which means the building could possibly not look like how it is in these images anymore, and therefore would no longer be a useful location for my music video.

There was contact information included where you could send the owner of the building asking for his permission to use the building, however this received no reply, probably because the risk is just too high to grant permission for the use of the building.

Although this was a fantastic location and would have looked very effective when filming my music video, the risks and problems are just too high. I would rather not risk people getting hurt for the purpose of the music video.
Hopefully I will be able to find a more suitable location to film in which is more compatible with health and safety risks.

Animatic

In order to make my animatic I created a storyboard which consisted of existing images taken from Google Images, of the shots I want to include in my music video. The reason i decided to use existing images is because I feel that it gives a better representation of what my music video is going to look like.
It will also make it easier for me when actually filming the video because I will be able to look at the images I used and re-create them the best I can, so my video can look as professional as possible.

Advertising My Music Video

There are many ways in which my music video will be shared and advertised to the target audience. The first media platform that would feature my music video is YouTube.
The reason why YouTube will be a good way to advertise and share my music video is because it is available to so many people around the world and is free. Which means more people are likely to see the music video and share it with friends in person or on social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. Also because it is user generated it means that the content can be put on with no cost making it easier and cheaper for the video to get noticed. The popularity of YouTube is what makes it a good platform to share my music video onto because of the amount of users on the internet the video will be seen more frequently. YouTube is also quite modern and the majority of users probably range from 15-25 year old's, which fits in with my target audience which means by featuring on YouTube it will attract a bigger fan base of my target audience.

The next site that my music video will feature on is Twitter. This is because of the massive amount of people that will have Twitter. The high control that social networks have over the media would come in handy when advertising my music video.  By creating a Twitter profile for the band it means they could build up a fan base and then share content on there. Once again having a cheap and easy way to promote themselves.
Both YouTube and Twitter link together when finding ways to advertise the band because the YouTube link for their song could be put on Twitter therefore meaning it will get more views and more popular because people from both social networking sites can share the content with each other.

My music video will be frequently shown on music channels such as 'Kerrang'and 'MTV Rocks' this is because of the genre of the song. I would choose to have it aired on these channels because they would be the main channels that my taget audience would watch and therefore would result in getting more publicity for my bands song. However it could also be shown on other channels such as MTV because a different target auidence could end up liking it and will attract more of an audinece which will give my video more publicity.

Locations For Music Video

For the majority of my music video it involves a performance from the band which i am using. The location i am wanting is an empty building. Whether it is an empty hanger, an empty warehouse or a derelict building.

I feel a location like this will be really effective and will fit with the genre of music the song is.
The music video which i got inspiration from for my location is "Sex on fire" by Kings of Leon. I thought the location in that video was really effective and looked really good. This is because the use of lighting matched with the darkness of the building led to a really good, eerie effect.
By using an empty building it also means that i can include all the props and lighting to make it look exactly how i want it. It also fits really well with the theme of my music video.

During the narrative of my music video it will take place in a different location. The locations i would like for the narrative is a long hallway or corridor and a living room which is different to the majority of the video. The reason i want these locations is because the narrative is a showing a couple in their surrounding at home.
